john masterton When I am making a piece, I am looking for a form and surface that will make you want to touch, hold and use. The clay is transformed by fire from mud and stone to a fine piece of pottery. I make work in three ways:

Individual pieces in stoneware and porcelain. These are fired in flame kilns using gas or wood as a fuel. Individual pieces in a very white porcelain mixture, Raku fired. This involves plunging the red-hot pot into sawdust and smoke-firing the pattern into the clay. A range of porcelain tableware designed for everyday and special day use. john@jmasterton.freeserve.co.uk
